Preparing your classroom at the beginning of the school year can feel both exciting and overwhelming—especially when you are not yet sure what questions to ask or where to begin. This video introduces a practical Beginning-of-the-Year Checklist designed to help early career teachers think through important tasks, identify priorities, and start productive conversations with mentors or teaching teams.
The checklist is not meant to be completed perfectly or all at once. Instead, it offers a starting point for reducing the uncertainty of a new school year. As you prepare, remember to give yourself grace, focus on what truly needs to be ready, and allow some parts of your classroom to grow and take shape alongside your students.
